For those law students interested in throwing a glance at the German Law, this book offers on 450 pages an introduction into all relevant fields of the German Law. The book is divided into fiveteen separate chapters, besides a general introduction, each dealing with a specific area of law. Due to the limited number of pages, only the most important basic principles can be ilustrated in this book. Especially the chapters regarding the Law of Contracts (including the Law of Obligations) and the Property Law deserve closer attention in oder to understand the so-called basic Principle of Abstraction (Independence of Property Law from the Law of Obligations) which is precisely illustrated in this book. But also the chapters dealing with Administrative Law, Criminal Law and Civil/Criminal Procedure Law are suitable to give the reader an introductory overview about these areas of law. Since the 2nd edition of this book was released as recently as last year, all informations are still up to date allowing a proper illustration of the fields of German Law.
Within the text, the most important terms of the German legal terminology are mentioned in brackets, giving the reader a first introduction into German legal terminology. At the end of each chapter, a „Selected Bibliography“ contains references to texts and handbooks allowing the reader to go further into the field of law he is particularly interested in. Altogehter this accurately written book will help all foreign readers to gain the basic knowledege about the history, structure and methods of the German legal system within a short time.
